SURPRISED JUDGE FINES SELF

CROWLEY, La.— City Judge Edmund Reggie, in a roundabout way, fined himself $5 during a session of court here Friday afternoon.

Johnny Hayes, Jr., of 114 Ross Ave., pleaded not guilty to a charge of running a red light at the intersection of Western and Hutchinson avenues.

In the testimony of a witness and that given by the defendant, it was revealed that Hayes was in the process of running an errand for the Reggie family when he drew the ch. arge.

"To keep the record straight," Judge Reggie said, "I'll find you guilty and fine you $5 or five days in jail. Call up Mizz Doris (the judge's wife) and tell her to send you on an errand and pay you five dollars for it."
