Numerous Traffic Charges Take
Up Time Of Crowley City Court
CROWLEY, La. —Long city and state dockets, heavily laden with traffic violations in Crowley and Acadia Parish, were processed Thursday afternoon by Judge Edmund M. Reggie in Crowley City Court.
Before taking up the individual cases, Judge Reggie addressed the large assembly in the courtroom and explained that the citizenry, aroused by increasing traffic offenses, has called upon the local and state police to exert every effort to apprehend violators. He stated that the policemen were doing their duty and urged the public to support them in their efforts. Ile further explained the court prooedure in handling of traffic matters and urged residents of the area to attend the Driver Improvement School being conducted each Tuesday by Bobby Stringer.
Ordered to jail for 20 days after pleading guilty to reckless driving was Herbert J. Meaux of Crowley. Meaux was under a suspended sentence for
operating a vehicle without a drivers license when arrested for reckless driving by. a state trooper. He had no divers license on his second Arrest. Judge Reggie put the spended sentence into of t and additionally fined SI
$15 and costs or 10 days d ordered him to attend the Driver Improvement School.
When Doris J. LeBeouf failed to appear to face a charge of driving while intoxicated after being properly summoned, Judge Reggie ordered his bond of S103.50 forfeited and issued a bench warrant for his arrest and the posting of another bond.
Fined $35 and costs or 20 days and ordered to the Driver Improvement School after guilty pleas to reckless driving where Marton Crout, D a -a Woods, Jr., Ronald J. Beard, and Allen Clement.
After short trials, Leroy Citizen was fined $30 or 20 days for alarming the public, a n d Mervin Wilson was found not
guilty- of fighting and the case dismissed.
Louis Levine entered a plea of guilty to carrying a concealed weapon, a large knife, and was setnenced to $50 and costs or 20 days in jail.
Fined $15 and costs or 10 days for disturbing the peace by fighting were Lionel Lyons and Eldridge Hoffpauir.
Forfeiting bonds for disturbing the peace by being intoxicated were T.C. Murphy, Larry Thibodeaux, and Leonard Castile. Forfeiting bonds for disturbing the peace by alarming the public were Edward Winn, Horace Johnson III, Mrs. Anthony R. Duhon, and Anthony R. Duhon. Forfeiting bonds for simple battery were Chester Hanks, Joseph Brow n, and Ernest Banks. Andrew C. Cormier forfeited a bond for fighting.

was fined $15 and costs or 10 days and told to report to the Driver Improvement School. Nelson Abshire, also charged with speeding, was given a suspended sentence when he explained that he was on an emergency mission in his private car with a crew of men from the highway department to put up ice warning signs on Interstate 10.
Bond forfeitures through the TVE approved were William R. Jobe, improper muffler; Janet G. Murphy, following too closely; and Robert G. Thompson, travelling too fast for conditions.
Forfeiting bonds for overdue parking meter tickets were Cleveland Blanchard, 2; Telesmar Richard, 6; James Mouton, 6; Winfred Perry, 2: Norris Simon, 3; Marie Cook. 5; and Belton Sign Company, 2.
Jean Seaux failed to appear in court to answer for two overd're parking meter tickets atilt n,.s ordered arrested.
