German Police Dog
Ordered Into Exile
CROWLEY, La.—Man's best friend can become Public Enemy No. 1 when his close association to his master causes him to be suspicious of the rest of society. This was revealed during a session of the Crowley City Court Thursday afternoon.
Warren Wilson stood at the bar of justice as he heard one of his neighbors testify that Wilson's German police d o g chased his daughter to sanctuary when she attempted to go to the grocery store. He further heard Police Capt. Warren Hayes say the dog was snapping at his legs before brought until control. Still further, the Crowley poundkeeper testified as to the animal's disposition toward society by saying he was unable to ap
proach his cage without the dog going into a frenzy, and dared not place his hand in the cage to feed him.
Despite all this damaging evidence, Wilson looked up at Judge M. Reggie and s a i d, "Judge, he's not bad!"
"What!" exclaimed t h e Judge, "He almost ate a policeman and a girl and the pound-keeper's hand, and he's n o t vicious?"
Replied Wilson, "If I can have him back, I'll take him to Church Point."
"What for," asked the Judge, "to eat Church Point people?" Matters were resolved in behalf of all concerned when the Judge gave Wilson a suspended sentence of VS and costs conditioned upon the dog being safely taken out of the city of Crowley and placed in such keeping so as not to be a menace to the public.
