St. Michael students take
holiday from uniform dress
"What a refreshing sight it was to walk through the halls of St. Michael last week and see the traditional uniforms replaced by the smart, fashionable clothes worn by the students for "Dress Right Day," said Mrs. Robert Valdetero, a teacher, atthe school.
The girls blue skirts and white blouses were colorfully replaced Wednesday by smart skirt and sweater combinations, fashionable ensembles of granny print, hip huggers and po-boys.
Of course, the boys by no means took a back seat in this display of fashion, for many of the male students could be seen scurrying through the halls in handsome double breasted blazers and paisley ties. A few lads were really sporting the collegiate look with smart lookingpullover sweaters and matching slacks.
The array of colors within the classroom resembled a bright spring bouquet, and the effect of the wardrobe upon the students as well as the teachers was easily detected. Everyone seemed a bit more individual. •
"Dress Right Day" was begun at St. Michael last year In an effort to add more variety to the individual pictures of the students appearing in the yearbook. To complete the occasion, the FBLA, which sponsors the event, chooses a best-dressed boy and girl from each class.
'this year's winners were Renee Chappuis and d Michael Re ie reshmen;—Gail Bouret a Joe Chaillot, sophomores; Yvette LeBlanc and John Jar-dell, juniors; Cheryl Bally and Fred Reggie, seniors.
Upon returning to school Thursday, once again in the tra
ditional uniforms, the students appeared a little less colorful, but a bit quieter. The general comment among the students was that they enjoyed the occasionbut were glad that they did not have to worry about selecting something to wear each day.
