Rayne Religious Event
Attended By Hundreds
RAYNE, La. — Hundreds of devout Catholics joined in the annual Christ the King Procession for the Crowley Deanery, held at St. Joseph Church in Rayne Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Forming in front of the Church, the throng moved around the parish hall to the back of the church in impressive procession, headed by color bearers, and the St. Joseph High School marching corps, who formed an avenue near the Altar through which all the participants passed. The Altar was improvised all in white and set high against the back
ground of the church. Banked with beautiful chrysanthemums, and greenery, the Altar was a focal point for the afternoon ceremonies.
Various church organizations and groups from throughout the Deanery moved in the Procession in bodies, including men's, women's a n d youth groups. Preceding the climaxing portion of the Procession, Fourth

A program' of music was pro•' vided with the brass ensemble of the Rayne High School band, directed by E u gene Henry, playing the special music for the afternoon, and accompanying the crowds who sang sacred music of - the Church as they walked in. the Procession.
Rev. Emery Labbe, pastor of. St. Joseph Church, who served as master of ceremonies for the Procession, characterized the Christ the King ceremonies as a beautiful public demons' tration of faith and devotion to Christ the King.
Taking part in Sunday's ceremonies in Rayne were - representative groups from - Catholic Churches in Crowley, Iota, Rayne, Duson, Roberts Cove, Morse, and Lyons Point, all in-eluded in the Crowley Deanery.
