Marlena Cooley was named Little Miss Merry Christmas, and Beverly Gott Miss Merry Christmas at East Beauregard Thursday.
Mr. Terry Barrett was master of ceremonies for the pageant in which 96 girls participated in five age group categories.
For group 1, ages 3 years to kindergarten, Marlena Cooley, daughter of Mrs. Sue Cooley, won first; Gena Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Smith, won second; and Angie Kay Boody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boody won third.
Group two encompassed first through third graders. The winners were Charity Caraway, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. C.W. Caraway, first; Kim Johnson, daughter of Debbie Johnson, second; and Nicole Hebert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hebert, third.
Ninetten girls from fourth through sixth grade participated in group three. Winners were Pamela Ott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Azell Franklin Ott, first; Lynette Davis, daughter of Mrs. Jerry Beard, and Z.K. Davis, Jr., second; and Carol Solon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Solon, third.
Girls from grades seven through nine comprised group four. First place winner was Debbie Hooper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Moses, second was Rhonda McCormick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Floyd, and third was Monya Schales, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Merlin Schales.
Beverly Gott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gott, took first place in the 10-12 grade category, earning the Miss Merry Christmas title. First runner up was Kay Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Campbell, and second runner up was Rhonda Barrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Barrett.
Judging the competition were Ann Hayes, Patty Duplechain, Lurline Duplechain, Brad Bickham, and Ed Michael Reggie.
Solos were performed by Renae Milstead, Frank Ott, and Mrs. Rich. Mrs. Griggs played the piano accompaniment.
