Judge Reggie Now in Jordan On Arab Tour
AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — Edmund M. Reggie, a city court judge in Crowley, La., arrived in Amman Sunday night on a seven-day visit to Jordan.
He lectured Monday night at the U. S. Embassy residence in Amman on "The Protection of the Individual's Rights in the American Judicial System."
Reggie's visit to this Arab country is part of an Arab world tour he is making under the auspices of the educational and cultural exchange program of the U. S. State Department.
Asked if he was President Kennedy's representative on this tour, the 35-year-old judge did not give a direct reply. He said he was a personal friend of the President and he would report to Washington on his return to the United States.
"I am not here to engage in any factional politics but to hear the views of various leaders about American and Arab relations," he said.
Asked whether his tour had anything to do with Kennedy's recent letters to certain Arab heads of state, Reggie said the letters were a personal matter between the Arab rulers and the American President. He a4ded, however, he was interested in learning reaction to the letters
