Shooting Firearm Costs $100
Discharging a firearm in the city limits cost Lawrence Robinson $100 Wednesday in Crowley City Court.
Robinson changed his plea from not guilty to guilty during the trial session Wednesday morning.
Judge Edmund Reggie told Robinson he was lucky he wasn't charged with a more serious offense since he had gone home to get the shotgun after becoming involved in an altercation.
Glenn Sam came into court again on a charge of disturbing
the peace by using loud and offensive language and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Judge Reggie told Sam if he is arrested again, he will recommend that habitual criminal charges be brought.
Marcus Rougeau was sentenced to 10 days in jail for disturbing the peace by fighting. Rougeau was released since he has been incarcerated for 10 days awaiting trial.
Joseph Raney. Jr. was fined $100 and costs for discharging a firearm in the city limits.
Clifford Foreman was sen
tenced to 50 days in jail for criminal mischief and the sentence was suspended providing he submits himself to treatment for alcoholism at a state hospital.
Two persons were given 21-day suspended jail terms for theft by check. The sentences were suspended provided restitution is made to the injured party.
Sentenced were Lester Simar and Mrs. David D. Hebert. Simar was fined $25 for contempt of court since he failed to appear.
