We feel she will be a credit to Beta ana to every member of Beta in Louisiana. She merits election and we urge that the delegates vote for this outstanding young lady.

Betas from throughout Louisiana were urged to vote for Vicki Reggie for State Secretary as the State Convention got underway in Baton Rouge yesterday.

Vicki is a Junior at Notre Dame High in Crowley, which is a consolidated school of about 485 students. Vicki is one of that school's most outstanding students and her candidacy was being talked up by all who know her and many who heard of her and met for the first time as the Convention began.

Her own Beta Club overwhelmingly endorsed her and asks Betas from everywhere to give serious consideration to this unusually talented and attractive candidate for Secretary. "She's the kind of girl who has made a perfect 4.0 average every year she'has been in school," one friend said, "and at the same time participated in almost every extracurricular activity in the school and city. She combines the rare qualities of intelligence and popularity."

When asked about the office of Secretary of Beta, Vicki said that her aim, if elected, was "to continue the rich tradition of Beta in Louisiana and be the kind of Secretary who would reflect credit and honor on every Beta in this State."

"I want to be of assistance at installations and chartering of new Clubs," Vicki added, "because, after all, besides keeping good records of State meetings and attending to the other necessary functions of office, I want to be of service everywhere I can. In other words, I want every Beta in Louisiana to know that they will have a call on me anytime I can be of service to their club."

The State Convention was moved into full swing with the completion of registration and the campaign for offices was well under way by all candidates. Politics was talked up in hotel rooms everywhere in Baton Rouge, and in true Louisiana style the political climate continues to warm up as today's election nears.

But among the most imaginative campaign is the one waged by Vicki's friends who are anixous to get the full support of everyone for their outstanding candidate for Secretary. Delegates are constantly reminded to "Click with Vick."

From the reports throughout the convention, it seemed most Betas are choosing that type of high calibre leadership that is offered by Vicki.

that she has been invited by President Richard M. Nixon to the White House Conference on Youth which she will attend next week. (And Vicki is a Democrat who is invited by a Republican President showing an important quality of ability that crosses political lines, even at the National level of government.)

Those who know Vicki all agree that she will make Beta a superb Secretary. She has the ability to do the job well, is anxious to be of assistance to other Beta Clubs throughout the state and has the proven record of being able to work well with other people.

That is why more and more delegates at today's convention are saying its smart to "Click with Vick". She's the one for Secretary!

Dear Ann:

I know that you have heard about a lot of unusual cases but I am sure you have never heard about one like mine. I am a Beta attending the State Convention in Baton Rouge and I am one of those lucky guys who has his sweetheart attending the same convention. She's at the White House Inn and I am at the Jack Tar.

Now, for the weird part. Nancy, my sweetie, says that she cannot walk that 12 blocks to meet me at the Jack Tar for a hamburger and I cannot possibly make it over to her hotel for a coke. You see, we both have fallen arches. Can you imagine the terrible luck? Being in the same city, at the same convention and I can't even see my girl friend. And I know she loves me like I love her, Ann. What can we do to make time pass faster until we get back home where we can see each other when we want to?

I have been suffering with an unusual sensation in my right hand, or more specificially with the fingers of my right hand. The index finger and the thumb constantly want to come together and I have noticed that since I have arrived in Baton Rouge for the Beta Convention my condition• has worsened.

In fact, I have noticed an urge to pinch people, especially pretty young girls. Yesterday after registering I rode the elevator 14 times and each time got slapped for pinching a girl in the elevator. Is there any cure for this trouble? What is it anyway?

Things will pick up for both of you and you'll have a much better time at the Beta convention if you can find something very worthwhile to do. But you and Nancy must be very honest with each other. I advise both of you to work for an outstanding candidate, like Vicki Reggie for Secretary. She has all the excellent creditials to make Beta one of the Best Secretarys ever. Work at your hotel getting votes lined up for Vicki and tell Nancy if she really loves you, she'll do the same. This puts her to the test and at the same time, if she passes the test, you'll both know that your Beta Club will have its own state officer upon whom you can depend for assistance and serve during the coming year.

Besides that, just think of all the fun it will be telling your grandchildren about that convention some day. Do you think they'll believe you? If you have doubts, take home a Vicki Clicker for evidence. You'll be glad you did.

pinchiotis brought on by excitement that creates an urge to pinch. The excitement of the Beta Convention is an understandable breeding ground for this malady.

One of the finest cures for this ailment (and one that will keep you from getting any slaps) is the employment of your index finger and thumb in a fun exercise of clicking a Vicki cricket. That clicking, constantly repeated over and over again will release the urge to pinch, put your right hand to good use and keep you on the winning side of success and happiness. Besides that, your heart will feel better, too, just knowing that you are aiding a worthy cause in electing Vicki Secretary of State Beta. Many Betas have found this a stimulating and fun experience. And its a healthy exercise, too.
