they both entered the elevator in the hotel yesterday morning after registering.
With a broad smile of someone who was obviously happy to have the opportunity to answer the question, the blondish Beta quickly replied, "She's the candidate for State Secretary we hope all Betas will vote for tomorrow because she is the model of what we think Beta should be in Louisiana; she's a perfect 4.0 student who has the knack of working well with other people on a level of excellence that inspires everyone around her."
"That's saying a whole lot, isn't it?" the young man inquired, "And besides that where do we meet this Vick?"
The Vick-booster rebounded with a cordial "you will meet her easily because she's everywhere Betas are gathering, because, in a fashion true to the work she always does, she's putting in great effort seeking ott and asking Betas for their support for the office of Secretary.'
Of course, it took only a few seconds for the elevator to stop at the 6th floor and as the door opened and both Betas stepped off, well, you guessed it. They were greeted with a friendly and warm, "Hi, I'm Vicki Reggie from Crowley and I'm a candidate for Secretary and surely would like to have you in my corner when the voting starts tomorrow."
Well, the young man turned to his blond fellow elevator passenger and said with an all-knowing sigh, "I see what you mean and you can depend on me, I'll be in her corner and I'll Click with Vick."
AN EDITORIAL
National Beta Club has won widespread renown for excellence and that reputation has become traditional in Louisiana. It is a heritage and honor that every member of Beta treasures and works to preserve.
This year's convention marks another opportunity for Louisiana Betas to demonstrate their continuing strive for excellence. And one way that can be done is to elect the calibre of officers that fit the pattern of proven performance on a level of excellence that befits the high ideals of Beta.
We are sure that the members of Beta in Convention will discharge their duty well and capably, as they have done in previous conventions. But we take this opportunity to respectfully call to the attention of all Betas the candidacy of Vicki Reggie for the office of State Secretary.
Vicki has a remarkable and unusual record of accomplishments that we believe deserves the special attention of all Betas who will cast their votes today. And while our endorsement of Vicki is wholehearted and overwhelming, we do not at all take away from any candidates for that important office. We merely want to call attention to the special qualities and accomplishments that belong to Vicki.
In the tradition of Beta's constant efforts toward scholastic excellence, Vicki has earned a perfect 4.0 average for every year she has been in school, beginning with the first grade on up to her present Junior year at Notre Dame High in Crowley.
She has been elected Class Representative to the Student Council every year and has been an active; and exemplary Beta for two years. Her extracurricular activities have shown that she works well with others and has always won their approval in being voted to numerous offices and organizations.
Vicki is such an outstanding young lady that she will attend next week's White House Conference on Youth in Washington, D. C., at the invitation of President Richard M. Nixon.
Vicki is the kind of person needed to carry on the important functions of Secretary of Louisiana Beta. We feel she will be a credit to Beta and to every member of Beta in Louisiana. She merits election and we urge that the delegates vote for this outstanding young lady.
Betas from throughout Louisiana were urged to
