Robert Richard and Gladue Ab. shire received a stern warning to "stay away from each other" after Richard was found not guilty ; of a charge of disturbing the peace∎ at the Abshire home. The charge,. had been placed by Abshire, a n d had drawn a not guilty plea from Richard.
DAMAGING PARKING KETERS BRINGS HEAVY FINE HERE
CROWLEY, La. — It's a more serious offense of the law to back nto parking meters, or drive on he wrong side of the street, than it is to commit simple battery up-an one's wife, according to penalties handed down by City Judge. Edmund Reggie Friday afternoon. In a session of city court here Friday, Louis Joseph Schexnayder. entered a plea of guilty to a charge of reckless driving, in which .he stated he backed into tw ocity parking meters a n d knocked them down, and was fined $30 or 15 days in jail.
Bobby Marborough, Crowley Negro, entered a plea of not guilty to the same charge, in which he allegedly drove on the wrong side of the street. After hearing the testimony of several witnesses and that of Marborough, Judge Reggie found the defendant guilty a n d likewise fined him S30 or 15 days in jail.
Later in the same court session Joseph Vaniel pleaded guilty to a charge of committing simple battery upon his wife and drew a fine of $25 or 10 days in the city lockup.
The stiffest sentence of t h e afternoon was handed to Dennis Patton, Negro, who pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated. Patton admitted that he had been convicted on .the same
