Its history has proved that the Acadia Savings and Loan Association is a determined institution, guided by determined Directors who see the association as an instrument of great public service, where everything possible will be done to serve savers and borrowers in the most up-to-date, speedy and courteous manner.
Perhaps that is why, after only 20 years, the Acadia Savings and Loan Association is the largest in Acadia Parish, forging ahead with its new building, new concepts of public service and new and expanded facilities to meet the challenges and needs of today, tomorrow and a growing Acadia Parish.
State and Federal laws and regulations set serious and stringent standards of business behavior on the Acadia Savings and Loan Association. And among those standards are written laws, promulgate, rules coupled with annual examinations by the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, the Louisiana
State Commissioner of Financial Institutions and an independent audit made every year by an approved firm of Certified Public Accountants.
Among the laws that regulate savings and loans in America is one that prohibits the loan by the association to any person employed by it or to any Director serving on its Board for any other reason than a loan on the home in which that person actually lives.
This has been a long standing law that prevents self-dealing in a savings and loan and no "insider" who is connected with the association is ever allowed to use his influence to obtain any loan for any purpose
whatsoever except for his own home loan.
And the interest rate charged to such "insider" cannot be lower than the prescribed rate that is computed against the association's cast of money. And each exmination, which occurs once by Federal authorities and once by the State authorities each year, searchs for all transactions, to make certain that there is no self-dealing occurring in the association.
