Three. Reckless
Drivers Fined
In City Court
Three persons were given reckless driving fines Wednesday in a combined Criminal Misdemeanor and Traffic session of Judge Edmund Reggie's City Court. Lawrence Allison, Euclide "Skippy" Myers and Peggy Marie Monte all pleaded guilty to separate charges of reckless driving.
Judge Reggie sentenced each of the three to pay a fine of $35 and court costs or serve 20 days in jail. In addition, he ordered all three to attend four sessions of the court-sponsored driver improvement .ichool.
Although none of the three was charged with drag racing, he issued a warning with the sentences. He told the defendants and audience the court has a strict policy that persons charged and found guilty of drag racing receive an automatic 21 day jail sentence.
Myers received a $25 and costs or 10 day suspended sentence on a no drivers license charge to which he pleaded guilty. He showed the court his valid license and said that he did not have it in
his possession at the time he was ticketed. Bonds were forfeited in 34 cases on the traffic docket.
On the misdemeanor docket, Freddie Boutte pleaded guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace by alarming the public. He was sentenced to pay a fine of $15 and costs or serve 10 days in jail and was given credit for time already served.
Percy Robinson, Jr., was fined $25 and costs or 15 days in jail on a simple battery charge. In another simple battery case, the judge ordered Dallas Guidry arrested and held under $100 cash bond after Guidry failed to appear in court. There were nine bond forfeitures in misdemeanor cases.
