Reggie Cites Failure Of
Adults For Young Rebels
Lafayette, La. — Youth is rebelling at our hypocrisy and failure to achieve our goals of equality for all and peace in the world, Judge Edmund Reggie, Crowley guest speaker at the 17th Annual College of Commerce Awards banquet at the University of Southwestern Louisiana said.
The banquet, held recently in the USL Union, honored outstanding students in the College of Commerce. Robert Keaty, Baton Rouge, president of the college served as master of ceremonies. Mark Tompkins, Student Government treasurer, gave the welcome. Richard Haik, N"w Iberia, incoming president of the college introduced Reggie
Judge Reggie spoke of the problem of young people and UK older generation finding difficulty in communicating. This gap, he said, must be closed, if
we are to create a better world.

Awards
Awards to outstanding College of Commerce students were as follows: Douglas Capuder, Lafayette, Acadia Savings and Loan Association of Crowley Award (economics and finance); Waldemar Talen, Crowley, Bolton and Reed Award (accounting )and the Dowling & Stout Award in Tax Accounting; Gerald Lapoint, Crowley, Voorhies, Davis & Clostio Public Accounting Award; Ronald J. Prejean, Rayne, Pete Nicolosi & Associates Award (marketing).
Dr. Rexford C. Hauser, USL professor of management, and acting head of department, was given a special award as "Outstanding Faculty Member" in the College of Commerce by vote of the graduating seniors.
