Naturals happen in every profession and every field of endeavor. Rembrandt was born to paint; Isaac Newton was born with the mathematical mind that was to establish an order for an entire universe; Beethoven was born to compose symphonies ; and Mickey Mantle was born with the eyes, muscles and coordination to hit baseballs out of sight.
I've come across a natural newspaperman. (not to be confused with a journalist. A journalist is a newspaperman that's out of a job)
He's ony 16 years old and despite his contentions that he's not that interested in newspaper work and is planning on taking either law or banking in college, my hunch
says that someday soon will find him either pounding a typewriter in some big city newsroom or as the head of a photo journalism staff somewhere.
His name is Denis Reggie and Post Herald readers have already been treated from time to time to his photographic talents. A great nose for news is one of the ingredients that make his pictures come alive.
So take heart Judge if you find Denis in a newsroom one of these days. Some pretty big names got their start there too. People like William Randolph Hearst, Joseph Pulitzer, Ernie Pyle, and Horace Greeley, just to recall a few.
That's 30.
